Guest: CANCELLED Pete Watkinson
TONIGHT’S EVENT POSTPONED pending rescheduling (to be hoped later this year).
This page is where we’ll post updates first. Also, in case they don’t inform us(!), you can check whether the The Guide Dog itself is open or closed on its Facebook page.
Stalwart of the local scene, esp. Portsmouth’s, for for over three decades (incl. 20 years M.C.-ing The Railway F. C.), PETE is still a member of the PORTSMOUTH SHANTY MEN, performing at clubs and festivals all over the country; he’s also occasionally in the line-up of SHEP WOOLLEY’s ’ANDSOME CABIN BUOYS; both outfits have been invited to sing on board H.M.S. Victory and H.M.S. Warrior, in the Historic Dockyard.
Over three years ago, illness forced PETE to scratch a gig booked for The Fo’c’sle F. C. and, though I’ve been trying to reach him ever since, it’s only now we’ve nailed down a date. Light strong voice, unaccompanied or with guitar. Lots of his material has a Hampshire and/or maritime connection, so bring your sea-legs, along with your voices.
