To maintain in-person music every week, we shift the pattern of Weds., just for June, to avoid The Dog’s and The Welly’s events being on two consecutive nights, twice in the month. This will unavoidably overlap with the Zoom sessions. Live FOCSLE Music will be a themed Singaround. Songs, poems, etc., referencing NEWSPAPER TITLES*, or HIGH [if not both at once] welcome. Our MC for the evening will be accomplished singer, guitarist and songwriter Jonathan Klein.
A shift of a ‘live’ night to second & fourth Weds. will be a rare occurrence, not until Feb. AND March 2023 [the diary pattern replicates, in these months], recurring in November '23.
* ideally, terminology, not placenames [so, e.g. "Star" / "Echo", rather than Toronto / Liverpool]. Feel free to e-mail for a list of suggestions.
The usual other gubbins on hand, too: raffle, with alcohol [and, often, confectionery] prize(s); warm, welcoming atmosphere; intelligent and entertaining between-song chat; wide range of genres and approaches.

The shadow of COVID. Though estimates have dropped markedly, the data show a climb from the recent trough in the southern cities [now hovering around 4 to 5%]; a new severe variant could cause short-notice cancellation at any time. Rates of 7.5% in the Southampton region, OR 10% in any of the nearby regions, if they have over 1,000 study-contributors, would trigger automatic cancellation. By reading the same data at the same time we do, you can stay abreast of our decisions.
Virtual FOCSLE contnues as usual. Similar relaxed and humorous feel to the live version. Any musical genre — and occasional cultural forays beyond music.
