(Chorus)
Kalinka, Kalinka, Kalinka, my dear,
Your name in the whisper of pines I can hear,
Kalinka, Kalinka, Kalinka my dear,
Your name in the whisper of pines I can hear.

Oh, underneath the pine tree,
Green and shady pine tree,
Let me linger there and dream.
Lullay, lullay,
Lullay, lullay,
Let me linger there and dream.

Oh, green and ruslting pine tree,
Green and tufty pine tree,
Let not your murm'rings disturb my dream.
Lullay, lullay,
Lullay, lullay,
Let not your murm'rings disturb my dream.

Oh, hush, you restless pine tree,
Noble dark, and fine tree,
Draw your green coverlet over me.
Lullay, lullay,
Lullay, lullay,
Draw your green coverlet over me.

Notes:

Russian Folk tune with English words by Thomas Pitfield from Oxford Choral Songs.

This site has the lyrics in Russian, but finding way to post a copy here has so far defeated me!

My Russian transcription is a bit rusty - its probably 30+ years since I did any. But with the help of my trusty 30+ year old distionary I came up with the following.

Kalinka, Kalinka, Kalinka moya
Vsadu yagoda malinka, malinka moya

Pod sosnoyy, pod iylynoyy
Spati polozityi vi minya

Ach! Sosinushka t?iyinaya
Ni shumee zi nado mnoyee!

Ach! Krasaveetsa, dusha divitsa
Polybi zi t?minya

Where I have written 'z' this represents the 's' as in leisure or pleasure. Where there is an 'i' this usually is as the i' in 'bit'.

Obviously I am very willing for anyone to correct this as I only know how to sing the first verse and the rest is a bit iffy.

Translation from here:

Kalinka [Snowball-Berry Bush]

Kalinka, Kalinka, Kalinka, of mine,
Berries are in the garden, raspberries, raspberries of mine.

Akh! Under the pine, under the green pine,
Lay me down to sleep.
Aye, lie-di-lo, aye, lie-di-lo.
Lay me down to sleep.

Refrain.

Akh! Little green pine tree,
Don't rustle over me.
Aye, lie-di-lo, aye, lie-di-lo.
Don't rustle over me.

Refrain.

Akh! You beauty, fair maiden,
Fall in love with me!
Aye, lie-di-lo, aye, lie-di-lo.
Fall in love with me!

Refrain.
