Chopping trees and cutting branches
In the wood there is an old man.
In the wood there is an old man
Chopping trees and cutting branches.

Trees for Christmas tall or short ones
In the wood the old man's chopping,
In the wood the old man's chopping,
Trees for Christmas tall or short ones.

Come and buy now all good people
From the old man in the wood,
From the old man in the wood,
Come and buy now all good people.

Notes:
The booklet merely states "Welsh folk tune." The song was taken from Anne Mendoza's Thirty Folk Songs for Children (J Curwen and Sons Ltd.)

I have added 'Father Grumble' as a song it is easily confused with because some versions of Father Grumble have a very similar title to this song. However, if you look at the lyrics there is no chance of confusion.
